The Texas Foundation for Archaeological & Historical Research
For the 2008 season at Bylazora (Sveti Nikole), TFAHR conducted a field school
with over 30 students, teachers and volunteers from the USA (Texas, California,
Arizona, Washington), Canada, Australia, Macedonia, Norway, the Czech Republic,
Slovakia, Ukraine and Sweden. Team members contributed to all facets of the
excavation program, including: excavation work in the field; documentation of
excavations; and processing of finds and pottery (washing, drawing, documenting,
restoration). In addition, transportation for field trips to archaeological sites in
Macedonia was funded by TFAHR, and evening lectures were presented to the
field school.

Processing begins with the cataloging and tagging of
all pottery in the field. The field school participants
share in the cleaning of the pottery and its
reconstruction, if possible. We gather every
afternoon for study and interpretation of the pottery
finds. Important pieces are photographed and drawn.
